Turbinaria Heronensis Is Like Reniformis On Roids

Colonies of T. heronensis are like a caricature of T. reniformis, in that the coralites are much more prominent, tubular and irregular. Think of Samy Sosa pre-steroids, and after… only his jaw is a coralite. Just like that, but not.

Turbinaria heronensis is quite rare in the trade, but was recently imported from Australia via Route 66 Marine. The image above is from Route 66’s often updated livestock gallery which can be seen here. We hope this colony of T. heronensis makes its way into aquaculture as this coral has texture and shape that can add diversity to any reef aquarium.

Hah! We got Sammy here in Baltimore post-steroids and I think T. heronensis could probably have hit better than him at that point…what a waste of money and yet another O’s blunder (although Showalter looks like he’s really doing something with them these days). Baseball aside-very attractive coral.

P.S.-If the O’s win today at Fenway, they will have swept Boston in Fenway for the first time in 16 years. Keep in mind they are in our division, so we’ve had plenty of opportunities…ridiculous:)!!!
