This past weekend thieve broke in and stole 15 Pacific Threadfins (Polydactylus sexfilis) from the Waikiki Aquarium. Commonly known as Moi on the Island, officials at the aquarium estimate the loss to be $1,500 USD.

It seems rather clear these were not going to another aquarium:

“It looks like they threw the moi out, they lay on the ground there and they put them in the bag,” Waikiki Aquarium Director Andrew Rossiter said. “There were scales and blood there. There were two dead moi left there in the morning that they missed.”
