    Super Reef Octopus (SRO) XP 1000S HOB Cone Skimmer

    Another Conical HOB skimmer is making its way to production via the Super Reef Octopus XP 1000S. This skimmer is not easy on the eyes (red acrylic in the tank?!), but the design has promise. After all it is basically an external skimmer fitted on a hang on the back (HOB) stand.

    It also signifies that Honya has a small cone mold and we expect to see smaller in sump models make their way to production in the future. The SRO XP 1000S HOB is powered by a Bubble Blaster HY 1000 skimmer pump. No word on pricing or ratings at this time.

    The SRP XP1000s should perform well, but ‘Vue, easy on the red.

      About 6 inches of room is needed. This skimmer actually performs better than the lx-1000s and lx-2000s, due to the fact that the bubble chamber is circular and not rectangular. I actually have the above cone and the lx-2000s skimmer. The cone provides a smoother and more consistant foam head. It reminds me of the WM HX2 in performance that I have on one of my other tanks. Though the HX2 is alot quieter and the color is more caring to the eyes…

      Rupert, i just ordered the Lx2000 instead of the cone. please dont tell me its that much better since i paid way more, and its got the bigger bubble blaster ???

      WE ORDERED THE LX2000 AND COULD NOT GET IT TO SKIM AND AFTER SEVERAL CALLS FOR SUPPORT THAT WENT UNANSWERED WE RETURNED IT.

      IT WAS LIKE WE BOUGHT SORRY NO TECH SUPPORT WE WERE ON OUR OWN.
