Over the weeked I got word rebreather pro Rufus Kimura would be making some deep dives in hope of catching a Masked Angel. I woke this morning to an e-mail from Rufus confirming the tiny catch, and a video he took of the pint sized Masked Angel.
At just over 2 cm, this is believed to be the smallest wild Genicanthus personatus collected for the industry. As for size refrence, that looks to be a dime in the holding container!
As exciting as this Juvi Personatus is, it’s certain to be priced well out of most people’s range. Given the inverse pricing structure (size : price) for angelfish, this Personatus will command a premium; we’ve already gotten word of one offer from Japan for $10,000 USD.
Congrats to Rufus and his dive team at Kaiohi.com this is a once in a lifetime catch. Keep an eye out for updated photos and videos of this special little fish.
