A few months back I mentioned Kiyoshi Endoh’s upcoming issue of Marine Aquarist, No.53, that would feature a bit of Glassbox Design. After some shipping mishaps I’ve finally go my own hard copy–hopefully the lost issues will end up in the hands of an aquarist!
In 2009 I was asked by Kiyoshi to write an article on the topic of organic carbon dosing, specifically VSV, ZEOvit, and coral coloration. I was more than happy to write the article, but left the translation to our Japanese Glassboxer, Tetsuo Otake. Marine Aquarist No. 53 turned out be an international edition–published by Kiyoshi, with an article written by yours truly in the U.S., featuring the aquariums of Krzysxtof Tryc of Poland as well as those of Thomas Pohl and Alexander Girz of Germany. Lastly it was all then translated by Tetsuo Otake.
In addition, the issue featured some of Japan’s top aquariums which happened to include our friends Hideki Mukai and Anagonbe. Today we live in a globalized world, but for aquarists it can still be very much segmented. In the case of Marine Aquarists No.53 it was nice to see such international collaboration, despite the significant language barriers. As most do not receive this magazine, check out a few more snapshots in the gallery below.
