IMAC West Pushed Back to 2011

After leaving Chicago and rather successfully picking up on the west coast, IMAC West has shared on its website that it will not be happening in 2010, but is said to be postponed to 2011 “due to unforeseeable circumstances and resulting time constraints.”

When the economy contracts, apparently so does the abundance of reef conferences. We’ve been seeing smaller events getting fewer and fewer, but there is not saying what really is the cause for postponement here.

“IMAC WEST 2010 has been postponed due to unforseeable circumstances and resulting time constraints. We have decided to hold IMACWEST Bi-annually starting in 2011. Dates for IMACWEST 2011 will be May 27~29, 2011 – Location TBD”

What scares me the most is this last part. I hope exhibitors found out about this before the public.

“More information will be posted – we will be contacting exhibitors ASAP”

    H/T Chris N.

I was scheduled to be there as a coral vendor, and I checked the site a few weeks a go to see what vendors/speakers were attending and I saw the same message.
I still have yet to hear any details from the organizers. I was disappointed to say the least, as I had a very good time last year, despite a relatively low turnout. I was still able to profit and bring new business to my store.
I was really impressed by the scale of the conference, and the diversity of speakers they assembled, not to mention the unique (though somewhat creepy) venue. heres hoping better luck in the future.
