Hear Your Aquarium with the HARK Acoustic Transmitter Concept

Suspect a Mantis shrimp? Or maybe you’d like to hear your largest Pomacanthidae grunt… or even take it with you to the aquarium to show the little ones the  sounds of dolphins and whales. That’s the thought process behind Cenk Aytekin’s HARK Acoustic Transmitter concept. A portable device that acts as an aquarium stethoscope, pouring out the sounds of your tank via a battery power speaker–allowing us to hear our otherwise inaudible aquarium habitants.

The HARK Acoustic Transmitter concept attaches to the aquarium glass via a soft and pliable silicone suction cup. To remove, simple press the center button which will break the seal. In an equally easy manner, the user can adjust the volume using the device’s iPod like dial-touch control. It may not be pratical to the masses, but this is one cool, well designed device. If we’re lucky, we’ll see the HARK Acoustic Transmitter make it to production.

I think that's awesome. I'd get one for my tank if they were reasonably priced.

I'd guess in a lot of tanks you'd just hear pumps running. Which actually, is probably not a great thing from a fishes perspective either.

Ditto everything Richie says. I think I might get my ears blown out though…I had two pistol shrimp hitchhikers on my live rock and we hear them every night, anywhere on the first floor of the house!
