    NMI’s Vacuum Coating Equipment

Announced over two years ago under the development of the Northeast Maritime Institute (NMI), Golden Shellback coating is a promising new method of waterproofing a wide array of electronic devices. Using a special polymer caoting, NMI is able to apply this coating in a unique vacuum chamber that coats every surface of your electronic device with an even hermetic seal. Check out the results in this video.

We were told it will be just a “few months” until Golden Shellback would be available to the public. That was two years ago. Last we heard they teamed up with some marketing folks at Unofficial Networks to help sell the product. Since then not much has been publicized outside of Golden Shellback’s twitter feed.

Their last update? “For those who are asking, yes we’re still coating items…update will be coming soon.
