Between the fish displayed for sale pre-bagged, to the open air markets, to some of the rarest fishes that enter the trade–Fish Street has arguably the most eclectic and dense fish shopping area in the world.

The last time I was in Hong Kong I took a walk down that street. I was totally amazed with the fish selections I saw. The prices for the fish were easily 15-20% of what they are online. There were no tanks with just 1 or 2 fish in them, they were all jam packed with exotic fish. I was telling myself that this is definitely a place that you would want to utilize a quarantine system.

The pre-bagged fish are what really threw me off. The biggest question I had is what do they do with the fish if they don't sell? Do they dump them into a holding tank or just dispose of them?

Even though there were a lot of salt water fish there was also a very large selection of freshwater fish and plants.

Salt water fish a product is marked out of stock you may request that an email notification be sent to you the minute it arrives. This is great for those hard to find fish!
