At this past InterZoo, the new Elos Pro Coral food was a unique, but little talked about product release. Pro Coral is a new coral specific food designed for target or spot feeding, while keeping waste to a minimum. Rather than squirting a mixture of mysis or chopped seafood at your favorite Acan or Scoly and hoping it grabs a piece or two, Elos Pro Coral food is a thick paste that has a “sticky-like” property to help it stay where you put it.
Once dropped on the coral it will stay there, or have a better chance of not being taken away by any currents, allowing the animal to easily eat and digest the meal. It’s a novel and simple take on spot feeding that could prove important as we shift to keeping more azooxanthellate coral; because these corals are reliant on meals, rather than light, minimizing any unnecessary waste (in the form of uneaten food) is always a boon! Expect to see this hit retailers in the next few weeks.
