EcoTech Marine has just announced the launch of their much improved controller for their famed line of Vortech Aquarium pumps. The controller, named the EcoSmart Driver, offers the versatility and control we’ve dreamed of for their stream pumps–with the added bonus of offering the MP10 in a wireless version. The EcoSmart will come with new Vortechs sold and as an upgrade for current owners (with a rebate for those who qualify–see PDF form here).

- Improved Wireless Range
- On/Off Button
- Wave Auto-Tune Mode
- EcoSmart Nutrient Transport Mode
- EcoSmart Tidal Swell Mode
- Auto-Dim Mode
- New and Improved Night Mode, Feed Mode, Battery Backup Power Meter
- The Classic Reef Crest, Lagoonal, Short Pulse and Long Pulse Modes are still included
- A new more water resistant driver case

The new Vortechs featuring this driver are distinguished by ‘ES’ in their name. For example the Vortech MP10 ES will be the standard MP10 with the EcoSmart while the MP10w ES will feature the wireless ability previously only seen in the MP40w. The MP20 will not be offered with the EcoSmart, but owners can upgrade to an MP40w ES.
One of my favorite features of the new EcoSmart driver is the improved wave functions, namely the autotune wave mode and the ability to save wave settings. Check out this video that shows how this is achieved. (It looks like EcoTech took some inspiration from our quick MP10 video).
