His name has been popping up more and more lately, and sure enough Brian Greene, founder of Twilight Aquatics, popped onto RDO to share some news: He’ll be collecting again. Or so we have inferred by his coming of out retirement comment. If Brian will be once again pairing his Cis Lunar with some nets, a very small group of aquarists will be very very happy.

While we were perusing Brian’s personal U of Hawaii site we stumbled across an interesting in prep citation. A new species of Triggerfish: Xanthichthys kiritimati.

Greene, B. D., Pyle, R. L., Earle, J. L. (in prep). Xanthichthys kiritimati, a New Species of Triggerfish (Perciformes: Balistidae) from the Line Islands, Kiribati.

Remember that Triggerfish “hybrid” Quality Marine got in months ago? It’s a new species. (Check out Richard Pyle’s story on some dives in the Christmas Islands where they collected this new fish.) Same location, same fish? Me thinks… yes.
