You’re looking at ATB’s newest skimmer, the ATB Large Elegance Cone Skimmer. The upcoming Elegance line separates itself from previous ATB models by featuring a full conical transition from the base, all the way through the neck. The first ATB skimmer to feature this was their Mikro Skimmer, but now a full range of sizes will be offered. The specs of the Large have been finalized, with a Medium and potentially a Small model to make their way in the near future.
Like the DeluXe line, the Elegance series features an electronic float shut off and recirculating air silencer
The ATB Large Elegance skimmer is powered by an AirStar 3000 which utilizes the Laguna / Askoll 4200 motor block for quiet and energy efficient operation. The skimmer also features a double bubble plate (like the DeluXe series), Titanium screws, threaded venturi / ozone input, and a completely removable baseplate for easy cleaning. Overall dimension of this large skimmer are 360 x 570 x 620 mm.
Also new to the Elegance line, is this new molded pinwheel. Owner and creator Anton Burian tells GBD that this design is much more balanced than past CNC’d pinwheels. This may play an important roll in the new Airstar prototype pump that is currently being tested for the smaller ATB Elegance models.
The yet to be named pump will be powered by a Laguna / Askoll 900 motorblock. Skimmer aficionados will know that this pump is much more difficult to modify than the larger Laguna / Askoll line because it requires a shaft support–complicating an otherwise simple enlarged volute.
These skimmers are still in production and will be hitting retailers in the next few weeks. For more information contact ATBSkimmers.com
