We’ve got more information on that short, fat and portly ATB that Mare Nostrum has been testing. The skimmer in question is ATB’s new Elegance 200 cone skimmer. Like the rest of the Elegance line it features a double bubble plate and a sloping cone extending through the neck. However, this is the first Elegance to also take the inverted cone base that we’ve previously only seen in ATB’s DeLuxe line.
We were also correct in our initial pump speculation. ATB has been working on a Airstar pump using the Laguna 900 motor block since the first Large Elegance skimmer. This has finally been completed, extending the shaft and using the pumps stock input (and shaft support) coupled with ATB’s usual enlarged volute. The result is the ‘Mini’ Airstar 900, capable of pulling 900 lph or air while pushing an estimated 1,500 lph of water at just 36w. [Now Victor can finally get some rest without me bugging him about this pump!]
The skimmer sits just 50cm (19″) tall with a footprint of 300 x 400mm (11.8 x 15.7″). It also features an electronic floatswitch and recirculating intake for small absorption. Pricing is TBA. Check out more images in the gallery below.
