AquaMaxx Becomes US Importer of JNS Skimmers

Last month Marine Depot put up a YouTube video showing how to replace  pinwheel on an AquaMaxx modified Sicce PSK2500 pump. It was quite clear that AquaMaxx was coming out with a skimmer line; however, we were left wondering if these would be a fresh new design or an established import.

My initial reaction was towards the latter, it is the thing to do in this industry afterall, but more importantly the pinwheel and venturi shown in the video looked familiar to what we’ve seen come out of Taiwain from JNS, and imported in the states under Warner Marine. In fact the AquaMaxx Red Sicce Pinwheel and WM Red Dragon Pinwheel are one in the same. Now Derek over OCRD brought to our attention that Marine Depot has finally listed the AquaMaxx skimmer line on their website, and sure enough they are JNS.

This means the JNS Shark skimmer that we shared with you months back will be visiting the shores of North America, but with some slight changes and under the name AquaMaxx Cone 2 Skimmer. You may notice the AquaMaxx version lacks the dorsal shark fins on the pump holder–good call AquaMaxx.

More importantly AquaMaxx had JNS move the air silencer from the top of the collection cup to an attachment at the neck. [In the original JNS design this means a user would have to disconnect the tubing every time they wanted to remove the lid of their skimmer]

At $389 the AquaMaxx Cone 2 skimmer is on the cheaper side of the cone trend. In addition to the Cone 2, AquaMaxx has also brought over the standard external and sump saver JNS skimmers that they are calling AquaMaxx AM series–two of which feature the JNS Sicce pump, while the rest feature heavenly Sedras.
