This October the Chicago Marine Aquarium Society, Midwest FragFest and Uberfrags is putting on the first World Reef Conference in Rosemont, IL (30 minutes west of downtown Chicago). There will be 6 educational sessions and 6 workshops conducted by the likes of Julian Sprung, Eric Borneman, Marc Levinson (melev) and Jeff Turner of the Reef-Ball Foundation. Additionally there will by a 20×20 Touch-n-Learn booth brought by Mike Sergey and Living Seas, a local fish store.
Early bird registration for the conference is $55 until June 30th. The price then increases to $75 thereafter. With a full conference pass you’ll have access on Sunday to the notorious Backer tradeshow that will be going on right next door.

Where will WRC09 be held?
Both events will be held at the Donald A Stevens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL
What is the cost to attend?
The WRC full conference pass is $79 per person. Early-bird passes are being offered for $55 until June 30.
What does the full conference pass include?
It will include speaker sessions on Saturday and Sunday, unlimited entry to the Frag Fest, special guest entry to the Backer Show Aquatics Hall on Sunday, five free raffle tickets, preferred sign-up for workshop sessions, Saturday evening welcome event, Saturday night Backer All-Industry party, welcome bag with free stuff!
What is the additional cost for the Workshop sessions?
The workshops will range from $10 to $25. The sessions are limited to twenty-five attendees per session and will likely sell out.
What is the cost of a daily pass for Saturday or Sunday?
Daily passes will be available for $25 and include entry to all speaker sessions, frag fest hall, Livestock auction and raffle area. Daily passes do not include entry to workshop sessions or to the Backer Show Aquatic Hall on Sunday.
What about hotel accommodations?
The Backer Show has arranged for a special World reef Conference room block at Crowne Plaza Hotel for a cost of $105 per night with free internet and reduced parking costs. Crowne Plaza is across the street from Stevens Convention Center and five minutes from O’Hare International Airport.
Are there any lower cost rooms available?
We have arranged for a limited number of rooms at Comfort Inn for a cost of $79 per night. Comfort Inn is approximately two miles from the convention center and the have a shuttle service.
