Vitrea has unveiled more details and photos of their LED aquarium light. It may be the most unique and attractive aquarium specific light to date. The biggest shocker? The name! Vitrea is calling this their Orbital LED 2009 collection. You may remember Orbital Technologies, also known as ‘Orbitec‘, is the Wisconsin based company that holds a rather broad patent on LED Aquarium lighting and sued PFO over their Solaris. It’s most likely just a coincidence, but still interesting. My non-IP attorney opinion is the design would not conflict with Orbitec’s patent in the US.

Once you get past the name, the lines and details of the Vitrea LED light are beautiful. The fixture features a lightweight (low iron) high clarity glass that the LED heatsinks are then attached to. Control wise the unit comes with a double timer and a microprocessor for sunrise / sunset control as well as an over heating safety precaution.

@Richard At this time I don’t believe there is a NA distributor… but I see no reason why they could not / will not make it over to this side of the pond.
