Universal Skim Cleans now available + more Aqua Driver products on the way

Proline Aquatics and AquaDriver have made a revamp in their US distribution of Aqua Driver’s Skim clean. Originally the Skim Clean was only sold in the US for Royal Exclusiv’s line of  Bubble King skimmers. However, in the EU the Skim Clean could be purchased universally for any skimmer provided an appropriate fit.

It appears Aqua Driver, Proline, and Royal Exclusiv have reached an agreement. Like in Europe, the Skim Clean will now also be available universally in the  United States. Along with this news, we got word that at least two other Aqua Driver products are on their way.

Carsten, the owner and mastermind behind Aqua Driver, has created a flow deflection device that can be used on return outlets or even stream style pumps. These have become quite popular in Germany  to increase turbulence and randomness within the reef. Utilizing a propeller and gears, these flow diverters rely on the water velocity of the pump to power its up and down movement. These flow diverters will be coming to the US soon. While you wait for these to land on our side of the pond, click on the small clear photo at right to see the clear prototype in action. The video is from the popular German online mag Korallenriff.

Somewhat less exciting, Aqua Driver’s clips for Tunze Nano Streams will also be making their way to the US. Not exactly a knock out product, but having personally experienced the frustration of when these break I think a few Nano Stream users will be glad to see these make their way over.

Interesting idea using those gears! I like that, even though I don’t have a good application in my tank.

How does the Skim Clean work? Does it squeegee the skimmer neck?

    Hey Guys,

The skim clean works via a small dc motor that rotates the squeegee as well as the nozzle that sprays water. Here’s a video of it in action: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/4182907/SkimClean_2_4

    HTH!

Thanks for the vid Eric. I don’t know what I expected, but that caught me by surprise! Maybe it was the speed, I was expecting a slower rotation.
