We showed you the first glimpse of the redesigned Aqua Illumination in September. We thought this was the big news, only for it to be trumped a month later with the bigger news of the Cree XP G upgrade. Since then aquarists have been consistenly asking, when will they be available? We now hope to see these new leds hit retailers just before the new year. This is based on the tentative dates AI has posted on their blog–December 15th. This is the first tentative release date they’ve released.
In addition to this news, owner Chris Clough has revealed that existing AI owners wont be left in the dark. A new retrofit-upgrade kit will be made available for the previous AI LED module allowing these fixtures to reap the benefits of the Cree XP-G. It’s good to see that the AI units can be upgraded as LED technology rapidly evolves.
