That's great to hear. I absolutely love octopusses. I've seen every documentary and read every book out there that I can get my hands on. I find them incredibly intelligent with great problem solving skills. I'm dying to try to keep one, but I want to make sure I really know what I'm doing first. I would also really like to find someone to buy them from that really knows what THEY are doing. It'd be great to find an aquacultured one, but that seems really rare from the research I've done. Thanks for the great octopus article though-I'd love to see more!

@Nicholas, The mimic & wonderpus are very very similar. Here's a great site showing the differences: http://stickycricket.com/cuttle/wunderpus/wundermimic/wunderpus_vs_mimic_octopus.htm

The one that was collected was indeed a true Mimic and it is my understanding that they do better in captivity. (I also believe the specimen collected went to an aquarist who is very experienced with ceph's.) Both species are very rare and we know very little about these amazing animals.

Okay, I might be getting things confused (probably am), but is the mimic actually mimicking the Wunderpus and is the Wunderpus the one that's a protected species/verge of extinction? Only reason I ask is because at first glance of the picture, that's what I thought it was.
