Yes. See this thread that I just published. <http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showt...>

In it I show that as early as the year 2000 the concept of programmable/adjustable LED lighting for marine aquariums was in the public domain.

An excerpt from rec.aquaria.marine.reefs in the year 2000:

"Someone with the right equipment could test these light sources against our current lighting (VHO, MH, PC, etc.). Give this some thought as I see many possible applications such as dawn/dusk simulation, night lighting, and complimenting daylight and actinic lighting. I'm not asking for opinions here. I'm asking for some facts and any experiments that have been done. "

The initial patent document was filed on 15 Dec 2004, and I have great difficulty in beleiving that nobody in the USA was selling LED lights for marine aquariums before that date, or that nobody had published anything about this or shown LED lights in a Trade show or something similar. Any public appearance of any kind showing LED lights used in marine aquariums would instantly invalidate this patent; there must be somebody able to prove that LED lights have been used or shown or even talked about in the US before that date of 15 Dec 2004?

I'm guessing this is it as well, PFO definitely went OOB, although I don't believe they ever even made it to court. There are some people out there trying to find ways to service these units themselves but I think you need to be pretty handy in order to do so since there's definitely no manufacturer support for them right now. Here's some more info if anyone's interested, check out the related articles as well.
