Korallen Zucht has given their old REVOLUTION mini hang on the back cone skimmer design a facelift. The older version was significantly smaller and driven by a true venturi injector, shooting an air / water mixture into a small bubble plate before entering the cone body. This updated model looks to be using a different injector– at first glance the shape suggests a scaled down becket– and it does not have a bubble plate. Instead it injects upwards per a flared 90 degree elbow like its larger models feature.
The design is basically a sump model, fitted with a hang on tank base supporting the skimmer. The pump driving the skimmer, either an AquaBee 2000/1 or Tunze Silence, sits in the tank and the out put contraption / sponge you see is to eliminate microbubbles. It also attaches via tubing to the collection cup for an emergency overflow to keep the skimmate from hitting the floor beneath in case of emergency.

Having not used this skimmer or seen in it person, I am hesitant to add it to the list of great hang on skimmers. The price is also a bit difficult, €999 or $1,400USD. At that price you’re most likely better off building a sump!
