I was fishing today when one of my buddies told me about this. We all thought what a waste of a fish. FWC should do something about this I've seen them flip when someone just leaves a dead grunt or snpper at the dock, so why not a nurse shark. I think of them as trash fish that should just be left alone, they don't fight good and aren't that good of eating. If I catch one I just get my hook back and make sure he swims off fine. There's no point in killing a fiosh that you personally aren't going to eat yourself unless it's dead when you bring it in which this obviosly wasn't. I just can't believe that some idiot would do something like this. But living here in florida and fishing alot, sadly I see fish being poached or killed for no reason way to often. But if a fish is being poached and I wiitness it you can bet i call FWC.

I too was sick to my stomach. The thing that really gets me about it though is that it all seems to be something just for the sake of doing it... almost as if it was just a spontaneous idea, "Hey, it's a shark! Let's grab it and take it with us without even bothering to put it out of its misery!" or something ridiculous. Besides which, how does it, on ANY level, seem like a good idea?

Guaranteed if it happened here (Australia) one of two things would happen: they'd be put in prison, OR, they'd be lynched by the public. And rightly so, regardless of an animal's protected status, gross mistreatment is still gross mistreatment no matter how you slice it.

Sometimes I wish the evolutionary punishment of morons actually applied to dickheads like this. Ugh.

I don't even know what to say. You guys know how I feel about animal cruelty. I don't understand why some animals are deemed to be more worthy of justice than others. Life is life and when someone has no regard for it, that almost always spills over to how they feel about humans as well. This pattern has been documented again and again and still our leaders ignore it. I believe the animals themselves deserve justice, but I recognize that not everyone puts the same value on animals and life in general that I do, but most people minimally value human life and action should be taken to protect us from these potential predators even if you don't care about the animals. We're supposed to be an "enlightened society", but still there are daily horrific stories about animal abuse, including the stunning and shockingly cruel videos that were out yesterday showing beautiful, gentle, intelligent elephants being horribly treated by circus trainers. When are we going to put a stop to this kind of cruelty in our society? The lawmakers and enforcers have to be on the forefront both enforcing ALL animal cruelty cases and making the current slap on the wrist laws much more strict. I sure hope that no higher power is watching and evaluating the behavior of our species from "beyond" because I'd be incredibly embarrassed and fearful for us as a species. Absolutely despicable.
