In an effort to expand their new line of white colored TC and SC skimmers, Deltec has added on a smaller TC1655 model and also rolled out their largest skimmer of the white line, the TC3070s which features increased air numbers and a drastically widened neck.
Shown at right is the TC1655 which will be marketed as an an upgrade to one of Deltec’s best selling skimmers, the AP701. Not much is known about this skimmer, but based on the shape of the pump we can see it is not using the enlarged volute as featured on the rest of the TC and SC line. The pump’s shape is also much more square suggesting the motor block may be from an AquaBee 2000/1. Deltec currently lists the pump stats at 800lph at 12w hinting at heavy pinwheel and venturi modifications.
The new TC3070s features an upgraded venturi design for 4,200 lph while pulling 36 to 41w. For comparison, the standard TC3070 pulls 3,200 lph with roughly 3 watts less in electric consumption.
With the new S version, the TC3070 shown above is no longer the largest Deltec on the block.
With an additional 1,000 lph comes necessary modifications to the neck and collection cup. The TC3070s features a 200mm neck (40mm larger than the standard TC3070). Additionally the overall height has been reduced through the transition piece and the bubble plate has been enlarged giving the S model a stockier look. Like the rest of the new line, it will be available as an in-sump model (SC), with the pumps mounted below the bubble plate. Additionally it can be paired with the Deltec head cleaner.
The SC 3070s will features a larger bubble chamber than the SC3070 above.
UK reefer Glen Gardiner got his hands on the new Deltec TC3070s skimmer with the aforementioned head cleaning system. Check out the video below where the enthusiastic reefer compares the TC3070s to the standard TC3070 and shows off the head cleaner’s automatic siphon.
An additional video of the skimmer shown side by side with the TC3070 can be found here.
