I have noticed people are confusing Clipperton Atoll with Clipperton Island. The Clipperton Atoll that is for sale is in French polynesia about 3500 miles West of the map posted which is Clipperton Island.

Clipperton Atoll or Island is not for sale. It was discovered by the french sailor Michel Dubocage from Le Havre on the 3 april 1711 who call it Ile de la Passion. His log was the only proof of these discovery. That is the raison Clipperton belong at France since 1858 confirmed by an international arbitration in 1931.
