@Nate Ellis, I had the same thought. You've got to wonder how that will hold up (and smell) over time as water seeps between the sump and surface beneath it.

I like to use Dri-Dek brand flooring beneath my sumps (and tank, if possible) to leave an air gap so things can dry out between accidental spills.

This is one of the most amazing builds I have ever seen. I am addicted to the thread, watching it daily to see any updates. Ching even has a real time feed with a video camera that you can access online, and he was kind enough to give all of us access. A bunch of great ideas in there and a dream tank.

I know it's different from builder to builder, but when someone like this goes to build a tank as large as this with all the bells and whistles, is it normal for them to bring in people to help with certain aspects of the tank. Like, do they bring someone in to do the plumbing, electric, etc. and then the builder focuses mostly on the aquascaping and the choice of specimens and how to make it work as far as on an aquatics level, or do these guys tend to do EVERYTHING themselves. Just curious how most of these big, fancy tanks are undertaken.

@ Nate - That reflection is due to leaving the protectant paper on acrylic on the underside of the refugium/sump. Absolutely nothing to worry about. I did this on my sumps to keep the bottoms from getting scratched.

Is it just me, or did anyone else get that dreaded chill in the spine... at two separate moments, once while panning across the sump, and then again as it showed the refugium, where you can see a strange water pattern on the bottom pane, a spot of visual translucence, as if there were water underneath the tanks...? I've had mixed success building small tank and this sight is enough to give me proper nightmares. Maybe I'm just seeing things though.

It's an incredibly well planned and top notch system nontheless.

That video is great proof that his lives up to his personal mantra of "life is too short to drink bad wine". I've been watching this build since the start... it's been absolutely astounding at every step so far.

Can't wait to see what he produces at the end of it all.
