Just a few years ago $500 would not go very far towards a rimless aquarium, let alone one made from starphire. That’s changed with CAD Lights’ new Artisan series of aquariums. For just over 5 bills you can get a 50g starphire rimless, reef ready aquarium with a dark walnut stand. While this tank is not of the Elos calibre, it’s also not the $1g special from PetCo.

A 24″ x 24″ footprint and 20″ height is enough to allow creative aquascaping, while small enough to get away with 10mm  starphire glass (just a few inches taller and 15mm glass is typically used). This helps keep costs down, as well as weight. These tanks are made in the USA and have just begun shipping in time for the holidays–more details below.

  • 10MM thick 3 sides Starfire glass (front and 2 sides) with furniture style mitered edges

    I just bought this tank from Ken at Ocean Reeflections i'm real excited cannot wait!! I am upgrading from my Solana that i'm not too pleased with I must say... also the service I got was some of the best and most prompt I have ever had online and even helped us Sunday night!
  • Picked up my tank this past weekend from Eddie @ Cadlights. The tank itself is comparable to the newer Solana XL. Starfire glass on front & sides, polished beveled edges, and black silicone seams. The aquarium is packed extremely well, so if you need to have it shipped, there should be no worries.

    looks like a great reasonably priced offering from CAD Lights. For those of us looking to keep their budgets in check, this is a very stylish option to the "standard" aquarium offerings from most other manufacturers (unless of course the shipping costs kill the deal)

    Ah, it comes to $550 for just the tank itself with a stand.

    Not sure where the $500 came from, but this comes to a little over $1300 when you add in the stand and light tree on the CAD Lights website. That includes a 12G sump and return pump.

    that huge internal overflow box is the perfect place for a dsb. Herbie overflow with the pipes extended into the top 6" or so and the rest filled with sand. Id probably go a little farther, siliconing 1 or 2 extra pvc pipes to the bottom glass inside the overflow with holes drilled the pipe. Would provide a little circulation throughout the dsb along with heat and gas exchange.

    Now all they need to do is get rid of that huge internal overflow box!

    I like it. I think it's fairly priced, based on what I spent on a similarly dimensioned acrylic tank. Especially since it comes with a stand.
