First Photos of ATB’s Nano Option: The “Mikro” Full Cone Skimmer

Here’s a look at ATB’s newest cone skimmer that has been designed with the nano reef crowd in mind. This skimmer stands just 18.5″ tall (47 cm) and has a footprint, including the pump, of just 7.8″ x 11.8″ (20 x 30cm). At this time we are unsure of the name this model will bear, but [...]

Here’s a look at ATB’s newest cone skimmer that has been designed with the nano reef crowd in mind. This skimmer stands just 18.5″ tall (47 cm) and has a footprint, including the pump, of just 7.8″ x 11.8″ (20 x 30cm). At this time we are unsure of the name this model will bear, but the words “Nano” and “Mikro” have been used to describe it. We are partial to the Mikro name… hopefully it sticks.

Unlike other cone skimmers currently available, this ATB model utilizes a seamless cone shape through the body and neck.

Like its larger siblings, the ATB Nano (Mikro) can be completely cleaned thanks to the removable base plate which gives access to the skimmer body and bubble plate.

Despite the small size, ATB is rating the Mikro / Nano cone skimmer for aquariums up to 158 gallons (600 liters). In addition, these will be made available in three colors: white, red and black. Expected availability in the U.S. and throughout Europe is 3-4 weeks. Pre-orders are currently being taken from ATB Skimmers.

For a nano skimmer, that is still quite large :(

I personally would like to see a more efficient skimmer being molded around the simplicity and size of the Tunze 9002.

I think the term “Nano” in this case may be refering more to the units size as opposed to the size of tank it’s intented for since it is rated for tanks up to 150gal (I’ve personally never seen a 150 gall Nano… LOL!!!)…but I agree it does seem a bit confusing and misleading…
Either way, it is very nice to see ATB making a cone skimmer for smaller sized tanks under 100 gal.
I went to ATB’s site and did not notice any “pre-order” links at the website yet.
Any idea as to the USD pricing on this unit?
