Here are two fresh photos of the new ATB DeluXe Skimmer line straight from Austria. We don’t have all the information at this point, but I would feel guilty if I kept such finely hand crafted filter photos to myself.  You may remember some similar looking ATB skimmers with a different name on GBD a few months back. Originally this line was called Model 2009, but it has since changed to Deluxe.

The first photo shows the Deluxe 8.5 model whose near equivalent in the standard line is the External Small Cone. However, here it is paired with the ATB Airstar Mini. This pump is powered by the Sicce PSK 2500 motor which is not known to be an external pump– more on this later. The second image below and the cover photo shows the ATB Deluxe 18 model–equivalent to the standard extra large external.

Pricing for the US is unreleased at this time, but we will update with that information when it’s available along with a full gallery for the Deluxe Line. Until then here’s a skimmate shot to quench your thirst of an in-sump  ATB Large doing what it does best.

I ran my Sicce PSK 2500 external for months w/o a problem. I just didnt like it because of the vibration/noise, but thats what the custom volute and mount is for. Other than that, Sicce’s only advice regarding the pump is to use a different o-ring on the volute/body connection to prevent leaks (the stock one is a little too small for external use, although mine never leaked)… but once again, this is a non-issue with the custom volute.

The sicce’s ive ran external all got super hot and will eventually kill the motorblock without a cooling loop. Its just a matter of time. Sideways, upside down…etc, i’ve tried it all. Just drill a cooling loop and be done with it if you plan external.
