Aqua Illuminations Plasma Light

Plasma Light for Reef Aquarium

This reflector is ideal for metal halides, but not for the tic tac sized plasma lamp. Todd Cherry told GBD that “even with a reflector not made for this emitter, the spread is just about 6 feet”. The photos and video show this well as it illuminates Cherry’s new monster in-wall reef build. The tank is expected be filled next week and PAR measurements will be taken–more info then.

The video below shows the bulb warming up and the potential spectral and intensity qualities that can be achieved through dimming.

Many thanks to Todd Cherry for the photos and information.

That looks extremely nice. Can I be a beta tester as well. :)

They are right that the reflector is doing little to nothing for this style of light. A much simpler design is possible that would be much better. A simple parabolic or even a 20-45 degree cone shape reflector would be the best.
