Another unique product from the German innovators at ZC Aquarientechnik. This skimmer has floated around the web in past forum discussions, but ZC has revamped the model for increased performance.
The principle design behind the ZC Cyclon is an inner tube baffle system to increase contact time in an otherwise short body. (Think RedSea Berlin, but it actually works.) ZC claims the turbulence occurs in the outer two chambers creating an emulsification effect for better contact time, however, by the time bubbles reach the inner most chamber all turbulence is eliminated creating a stable foam head.
This has stayed the same…but other things have changed. The Image below is an older venturi powered model. This Venturi AS design was designed to be driven with an AquaBee 2000/1.
Since that design ZC has moved to the Sicce PSK2500 Meshwheel for tremendous air induction. This recent switch to the Sicce makes this one of, if not the most powerful HOB skimmers currently available.
This model retails for $740USD, available from select European Vendors.
