Warner Marine | AS200, AS300, and RX200 w/ Sedra 9000HO

A few of the new Warner Marine skimmer models are getting an upgrade. The AS200, AS300, and RX200 will now be shipping with Warner’s new modified Sedra 9000HO pump. If you were one of the earlier adopters of these, don’t fret. Warner Marine will give you a free HO pump upgrade upon your request.

Here’s the 9000HO in action

AS200w9000HO1

Thanks to a staggered needle wheel and a modified output the Sedra 9000HO pulls 1080lph @ 47w.  This was measured on the AS200 model (8″D x 24″ H with Bubble Plate) running in a water depth of 9″ @ 1.022sg.

AS200w9000HO2

These pumps will offer a well performing option to many reefers and will give the Eheim 1260 needle wheel a run for their money. Typically the 1260 pulls just shy of 1000lph.

On the RX 200 model, the pump will face less back pressure by recirculating the bubble plate. We would not be surprised if on the RX200, with a little help from some enkamat flat backed mesh, a 1200lph+ airpull would be possible.

The RX200’s little brother, the RX150 will be arriving for testing on the glassbox. Here are some images of this recirculating skimmer. We should have more photos when it arrives this Friday.

RX150 Close

This model is a 26″ tall, 6″ diameter recirculating skimmer powered by a Sedra 7000 which pumps into a nice little bubble plate. From there, water will flow up to the gently sloped 3.5″ neck.  We are anxious to give it a test and share our results.

  • Hi Todd,

    Thanks for your input.

I've used Eheim, Ocean Runner, Sedra, AquaBee, Octo, etc. While I have not used the 9000HO, the brief experience I have with the WM Sedra 7000 it is not that much louder than an Eheim 1260. I feel this is largely due to the silencer and uniseals to eliminate vibration. It's quiet enough that I would put in our system that is only a partial wall and 10ft away from my bed... and I am truly as picky as they come.

In my experience, Eheim 1260/2s are really not all that quiet when used as a NW. If you truly want quiet, talk to Klaus ;)

Also keep in mind, most Eheim powered skimmers are quite expensive (Warner also has Eheim models), this is a nice alternative as everyone's situation and application is different.

If you have the opportunity, check one out in person.

"Run for the money", in terms of airflow, sure...

But after you lived with a Sedra and an Eheim on a skimmer, as far as noise, vibration and durability, there is no "run for the money". Eheim leaves Sedra in the dust...

I find it so funny that reefers work diligently to quiet the overflow, quiet this, quiet that--but then they live with the vibrating manifesto that Sedras are...
