ORA releases new coral- Borealis Acropora:
This new release is named after the spectacular phenomenon, known as Aurora Borealis. It’s unique coloration morphs from a lime green base to electric blue tips. The ORA Borealis truly stands out even among our most colorful corals.
The polyps are expansive and range from green to yellow under varied lighting conditions. The growth pattern is also quite unique; it tends to grow many short branches in tight form with lots of polyps which gives it a bushy appearance. The bright blue and green base cuts through the polyps giving it an electric glow that really sets this coral apart from other types of blue and green acropora available.
Strong intermittent current and high output lighting are suggested to maintain natural growth, good polyp extension and dazzling color.
The Elos Manta will soon be available with a slight change. It will come in two lengths, 40 and 60cm. Both sizes can be used with just the ePower lights or with the eLite in between. Shown below is two 40cm Manta’s connected together. The 60cm manta is nearly identical except for the horizontal, rather than perpendicular, arrangement of the eLite. It should look something like the second photo.
Scientists have found Bluefin Tuna go to “kindergarten” while young. They spend their juvenile years together before going their separate ways to the Gulf of Mexico or Mediterranean Sea to breed. Previously the two Gulf and Mediterranean populations were thought to be distinct populations. Photos via wikiCommons.
Thomas Pohl has said 4 new Zeovit products are to come in November:
- ZEOzym – Power for Reef Tanks
- JOD Komplex Konzentrat – Next Step
- Aminos for Fish
- Fisch Immunstabil
Korallen Zucht / Zeovit has also recently changed the injector design for their Revolution Cone Skimmers. Very similar to the becket modifications that have been done in the past. KZ claims a performance increase of 30%. In addition to the new injector, KZ has stopped using the AB2000/1 due to start up problems. Opting for the more powerful AB3000 instead.
