I have recently learned of the frivalous lawsuit by Orbital. Both patents on this type LED light are very vauge and broad. ('ve read sOLARIS's and Orbitec's. I emailed Obital and voiced my opiniom that they have had this concept since 2003 and it is now 2009. I am a retired engineer and have been using LEDs on my tanks for years. ( I've been involved with fresh and salt aquariums for over 30 years). They do have about a half page on their website, no pictures, on this so called - non-existing product. They go to say because of money issues they have not advertized or marketed it. Note they have enough money to litigate it against PFO, a U.S. company.

The president of Orbital claims to be a marine hobbiest. I told them in my email that most of the people I have encountered in this hobby want to help it out not sue people. It is very clear that these people could care less about enhancing the hobby and only interested in the dollar. They need to stick with there space program products.

Not a very happy camper.

I am an ARC member and try to help as much as I can. I will be coming out with my own LED lights, in the near furture at a price that should blow everybody out of the water. Yeh it would be nice to make some money but not try to make it all with one sale. I'd rather sell 100 pieces at a reasonable price for all to affoed than 5 or 10 to those who have unlimited funds. I am on a fixed income and know how careful I have to be when spending money on my reef tanks.

Thanks for listening

[...] Recently there has been some rumors passing around in regards to PFO Lighting. Unfortunately we were informed today by Jake Adams that the staff at PFO has been laid off. This is very said news, as PFO had some notable staff such as Joy Meadows the owner of Harbor Aquatics. (Harbor is no longer running, but I was fortunate enough to have them just a drive away from Chicago. I still do not believe I’ve seen a more impressive clam collection at any one store.) To top off this sad story, just this past September PFO started manufacturing the Solaris in the United States. [...]
