Octopus is brining back the bubbleplate in their newest line of skimmers called “Core”. After failing with the original PS/Extreme Line due to the bubble plate causing too much restriction on the Octo Pumps they have increased the size of the plate and switched to Pentair Quietone Pumps.
Known with DIY gurus for their small size and immense air induction they are a less expensive substitute for the Sicce PSK2500. With Cast acrylic Construction, Sch80 piping, Silicone O rings, a 5 year warranty and 12month warranty on moving parts, it seems Octopus is catching on to user wants.
We must give Octopus praise for their new logo and photo’s. Hopefully with this new looks will come greater performance and reliability.

I seem to be confused to that they’re seems to be two different Octopus skimmers one from China and one from Canada, can you please clear this up Thanks in advance
Hi Jim,
It can get very confusing! Currently the Octo Pro 300 as pictured in the latter part of the post is made by C&C Marine in Canada.
Then it is my understanding, that the Octo Core line is from Octopus Australia, but made by the same Chinese factory (Honya) that makes the Coral Vue Octopus and MSX Skimmers. It’s likely we will never see the Core skimmers here in the U.S. but who knows?

Hi Jim,
The C&C’s octo 300 looks to be quite a nice design. The Laguna pump with enlarged volute should inject plenty of air.
On paper I would say the C&C would be better than most of the Core’s, but without using either it’s just an opinion based on photos
