I do not believe they are dimmable, but they can likely be modified for dimming control.

Re: 100 lumen rebels, I do not believe Elos has released the specific LED used in the elite.

Thanks for the heads up Jay. We completely passed over that. Yes it is 4320 lumens @ 54w…. not 18w.

We still feel this unit is not ready to be compared to MH. It is meant for the System Mini, and it should provide adequate light for many Corals and FW Plants in those systems.

One thing worth noting is Elos will not be using a fan in production e-lite models…

18- 3 watt LEDS with 80 lumens per watt is 4320 Lumens.

Hi Axel,

We appreciate your comments, you’ve made some very good points.

One thing we should also keep in mind that lumen per watt stats are for at an optimal driver/current. Elos is saying they are greater than 80lpw, possibly overdriving them for more output at the sacrifice of efficiency.

Either way as you compare them to metal halide it seems like a moot point.

the question is: is this enough power. 18 times 80lumens are just 1440lumens. Thats really not much considering that a 70Watts HQI has about 5500lumens. Not sure if this will work out, maybe for fresh water. Btw. there are 100lumens Rebels already out in the market.
