Being the last IMAC, I went with a few friends to check it out. I wish I could say IMAC ended on a high note, but that would be quite a stretch. Even so, it’s always fun traveling around the area with some great “City Reefers” – which are far less common then our suburban counterparts. Big thanks to Mike for driving Pat, Brandon and myself on this little trip.
Some photos and impressions from IMAC:
Seahorse Source had a small aquariums set up showing unique animals. Their Dwarf Seahorses were very interesting and even had me considering a ADA nano set-up… for a moment.
Unlike past years, Seahorse Source and Dirk’s were the only two Vendors with livestock for sale…of course we had to go to a fish store afterwards. Below is Dirk’s display being lit by a PFO Solaris.
Hikari was there with free food samples. No complaints from our fish; we feed their frozen Mysis, Brine, Spirulina-Brine and Marine-S pellets.
Premium Aquatics showed a variety of products at great prices, such as these Bubble King Skimmers. They also had a Supermarin 200 which was nice to see in person. The construction was top notch on this new model.
Besides Bubble King, we spotted Aquacare Turbo-Chalk Calcium Reactors, CO2 controllers, and No3 reactors. For more info on these complicated looking reactors, read our recent post on their Turbo Chalk Models.
Rod’s Reef and Midwest Reef Supply had Sera Test kits & the infamous Rod’s Food. For you Rod’s Food fans keep yours eye out… Rod has two new recipe’s in the works. We really like this all-in-one Sera Kit.
“Team Geo” also made a presence showing off their complete line of Calcium and Media Reactors.
A new economical GEO Calcium Reactor Model made it’s debut. A simple, well made, bare bones calcium reactor aimed at the average reefer. By eliminating a PH Probe port and swapping an Eheim for a Maxi-jet 1200 GEO is passing the savings on to you.
DTs had their new PURE two-part/balling additives. They were giving away free samples of these additives along with Phyto at their booth.
Digital Aquatics showed the new Reef Keeper Elite controller for the first time to the public. We will go into more depth on this attractive little controller in another post.
Being controlled by the Reef Keeper Elite was an Aqua Illumination LED light. Seeing both the Aqua Illumination Unit and the Solaris in person at the same time… we must say Chris and AI team look to have won this LED battle. The actual fixture looks extremely well made and we really like the fans on top of the unit, rather than on the side. Did we mention the Reef Keeper Elite can control it?
Also present was Seachem, Aquarium Systems (Instant Ocean/Reef Crystals), Marineland, Red Sea, and Aquatic Eco-Systems. IMAC certainly was no InterZoo, but it was fun to drop by and see some new toys, particularly the Reef Keeper Elite.
But, seeing all these gadgets and no fish or corals, we knew we had to swing by a store to get our fix… Read about our stop at Reef Depot after IMAC.
