In our previous post regarding Hydor’s Wavemaker 4 we mentioned Hydor had some larger Koralia models in the works. Well, Hydor has recently updated their site with the specs of their Koralia Magnums for models 5, 6, 7 and 8.

These things should be able to kick out some serious flow, at a low wattage… but we have to say they look a bit rollie-polie-ish.

     From Hydor’s site:

The new Koralia models 5-6-7-8 guarantee unbelievable performance for probably the lowest power consumption of any pump on the market. Equipped with an electronic start up system, new technology rotors and propellers, compact in size, these new model will quickly become leaders in their flow categories (6.500-8.500-10.500-12.500 l/hr).

Koralia Magnums have a pleasant design and come with a powerful magnet-suction cup support that rotates to direct water flow easily. Koralias can be positioned safely glass, anywhere in the aquarium.

Hydor has certainly perked our interest, but thanks to the stats…no thanks to the pictures. If they can perform and are built well they should be a big hit. We hope to see these built in a 12v controllable format in the near future. We spoke with Hydor on the phone, and these will be available in mid August. We will follow up this post with pricing when it is released.

      … agreed ;)

Still, if you can hide them well and they are priced right… they’ll be a nice option for many.

I think they look just as good as the first 4 Koralia Pumps, but with some attitude. I’m looking forward to these since I love my Koralia 4 with the sureflow mod.

I’ve seen them in action and they are a very nice spread out flow…easily adjustable with their nifty magnet thing.
