Europe sees new controllable Aquabee pumps

I am not sure if this motor is DC, it looks as though the actual pump has not changed hinting that they’ve stuck with the original AC motor. If that is the case, it’s likely going from AC>DC>AC to change the motor speeds much like the Seio Wavemaker.

    AB 2000 Electronic

    • $385 USD
    • 15w
    • 200gph- 528gph
    AB 3000 Electronic
    • $430 USD
    • 28w
    • 320gph – 792gph

A cool, but fairly pricey gadget… I wouldn’t mind trying the AB3000 as a variable speed return pump or for an in-tank closed loop. If the efficiency is there, it could also open up doors in the skimming world.

No word when these will make their way to the U.S. if at all. We typically do not see many stock AB pumps on this side of the pond.

Cool but seems like you’d need to design your sump around it with an additional chamber, if you plan to use it in conjunction with an ATO. The changing output would change the sump level and cause my osmolator to go nuts.

Agreed, for those using float valves or level sensors it would be a problem.

In that case a small closed loop could be used, or switch to a small dosing pump for top off.
