Interested to hear what you guys think of the noise level. I’ve been contemplating MP20s, but have heard some mixed reviews about noise on the MP40s.

      Hi Brandon,

Thanks for the heads up. We’ll be sure to include some details on that when we write a full review. As of now I feel comfortable saying they are quieter than the Gen 1 MP40s I have heard, but would like to have more time using the unit before saying more.

      Regards,

Looking forward to your review. I have not heard much about these new pumps, and have been hesitant to purchase one for my Solana. How large is the wet frame?

Can we buy just the fan (propeller)? Hate to buy both of EcoTech’s fan and their controller box, when there’s Hydor’s Koralia fans that can be purchased seperately without their controllers box.

      Hi Mariner,

You would need to contact EcoTech Marine directly, but to my knowledge you cannot just buy the Vortech motor without the controller.

I would venture a guess that the koralias are sold that way because they are not DC and their basic models are not controllable. Simply plug them in. To compare them to Vortech is apple’s to oranges IMO.

Truthfully, without the controller the Vortechs would not be nearly as valuable.
