Brightwell Aquatics to launch Bac driven system?

We found this on TuArrecife…seems Brightwell is trying to get into this market. It should make these methods more available, but given the advanced nature of Carbon dosing, we’re not so sure that’s a good thing. Take it for what it’s worth.    MICROBACTER 7Overview:• Complex system of non-pathogenic aerobic andanaerobic microbes, as well as [...]

We found this on TuArrecife…seems Brightwell is trying to get into this market. It should make these methods more available, but given the advanced nature of Carbon dosing, we’re not so sure that’s a good thing. Take it for what it’s worth.

    MICROBACTER 7
    Overview:
    • Complex system of non-pathogenic aerobic andanaerobic microbes, as well as natural enzymes, specifically formulated to establish biological filtrationin new aquarium set-ups, and to enhance the rate of nitrification, denitrification, and organic waste degradation in marine and freshwater aquaria through complete nutrient remineralization.

    • Benefits are:
    1. Rapid reduction of organic carbon, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate.
    2. Digestion of uneaten/undigested food, excreta, detritus, and other latent organic material, resulting in cleaner and healthier aquarium substrate(without having to physically clean or disturb the substrate bed).
    3. Reduction of organic compounds into nutrients that encourage the growth of photosynthetic organisms(e.g. zooxanthellae, macroalgae, plants).
    4. Greatly-reduced hydrogen sulfide production.
    5. Increase in dissolved oxygen concentration.
    6. Limits availability of pre-existing phosphate to undesirable forms of algae and cyanobacteria.
    7. Increased water clarity.
    • Supplied in a state of suspended animation for maximum longevity.
    • Formulated utilizing extensive data compiled by microbiologists.

    MICROVORE
    Overview
    • Suspension of particulate, microencapsulated marine proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates fortified with complex and free-form amino and fatty acids, and vitamins important to immune system function.
    • Appropriate for feeding many LPS, zooxanthellate, and azooxanthellate soft corals, as well as gorgonians, anemones, and other solitary and colonial polyps, particularly at night when tentaclesare extended to maximize chances of prey-capture.
    • Readily eaten by a multitude of reef-associated fishes known to feed on zooplankton and food particles drifting in the water column, including anemonefishes, basslets and pseudochromids, anthias, damselfishes and chromis, pygmy angelfishes, cardinalfishes, dartfishes, jawfishes, hawkfishes, wrasse, and many surgeonfishes.
    • Does not require refrigeration.
    • Formulated by a marine scientist.

    POTASSION
    Overview
    • Highly-concentrated ionic potassium solution.
    • Provides potassium, an important componentof aragonite (the mineral secreted as skeletalmaterial by corals and other reef-building marineorganisms), complexed into pigments that enhanceblue coloration of some small-polyp stony corals, important to proper neurological function, anddepleted in marine aquaria by livestock.
    • 80,000 ppm K; considerably stronger and moreeconomical than competing potassium products.
    • May be used to combat potassium depletion that often accompanies the use of zeolite-based filtration methods employed to maintain ultra-low-nutrient aquaria.
    • Formulated by a marine scientist.

    REEF BIOFUEL
    Overview
    • Helps maintain a balanced nutrient-limited marine aquarium by enabling the hobbyist to enhance the rate of microbial growth and reproduction, increasing the rate of phosphate-reduction and denitrification; this is of particular benefit in heavily-stocked, well-fed reef aquaria.
    • Replaces “vodka method” of microbial activity-enhancement with a completely safe andbiologically-sound, non-flammable alternative to using vodka or ethanol.
    • Indirectly benefits corals and other suspension-feeding invertebrates by encouraging reproduction of bacterioplankton (an important food source forsuspension-feeding invertebrates).
    • Encourages polyp-expansion in all corals.
    • May be used to help expedite biological filtration in new set-ups.
    • Formulated by a marine scientist.

    REEF SNOW
    Overview
    • Complex of carbonate-bound, non-conservative major, minor, and trace elements in aragonite ratios,as well as marine-derived proteins and lipids in coral tissue ratios.
    • Simultaneously delivers appropriate inorganic andorganic nutrients required by stony corals, both zooxanthellate and azooxanthellate soft corals, gorgonians, clams, tube worms, sponges, tunicates, and other suspension-feeding invertebrates forgrowth of both soft tissue and skeletal material.
    • Ideally fed at night when most corals extend their tentacles for prey-capture.
    • Does not require refrigeration.
    • Formulated by a marine scientist.

    KORALCOLOR
    Overview
    • Provides numerous elements important to theformation of various biochromes (biologicalpigments), complex molecules that give coloration to plant and animal cells through their selective color-absorption and -reflection characteristics.
    • Formulated specifically to provide trace quantities of elements for gradual incorporation into, and formation of, biochromes known to occur within zooxanthellae, such as chlorophylls a and c, betacarotene, and xanthophylls.
    • Does not influence population density of zooxanthellae, which would put the overallhealth and survival of the host organism in a precarious situation.

Interesting. I’ve never tried any of their products (testing / additives) though they seem to get decent review. I certainly am not making any switch on my current carbon and amino love, but interesting nonetheless. They seem to have a pretty full line of products listed on their site.

I agree. We may try one or two, but I don’t for see too many switching from their current brands. I believe Brightwell was started by a former Kent guy.
