ATB external goodness

ATB has released images of it’s new external model. Shown below is the XL with airstar 2000 pump. Like it’s internal brothers it can be completely dissembled for easy cleaning. It utilizes a Laguna 2400 motorblock with an enlarged volute allowing it to pull 3,000lph. Here in the states it will likely pull 3500lph+.

A couple of local reefers have moved to ATB Cone skimmers, and they absolutely love them. The skimmer pulls out crazy, nasty junk… a lot more than the skimmers they’re replacing — one fellow ditched his Bubble King in favor of an ATB Cone.

Glad to hear Andy. We definitely believe there is something to this cone design. Many are reporting the same thing with KZ’s cone skimmer. I think we’re going to hold off though until the design is tweaked a bit more and we increase our bio-load ;)

Have you seen them in action? If so, how’s the noise level?

Dang.. Thats a killer skimmer. I’ve never seen nor heard of them but the design looks great. Do they make anything smaller?

    Fragmadness,

I am not aware of any plans currently out, but a good eye and some acrylic skills and I’m sure something similar could be fabricated. With that said, ATB has put in the time and testing to make such a high-performance skimmer and we are not advocates of replicating others work.
