ATB | external conical skimmers

ATB has released some photos of their new external skimmer line. More info to come on these. We’re guessing Eheim NW (with option of mesh) on the smaller models with Airstar’s for the larger models. We would like to see the Small available (in white) with a smaller airstar.

Note only two holes for the pump. One our previous coverage of the External Large you can see they have a “self-feed” design like BK going directly into the pump to the bubble plate mixing chamber.  That model will use the Laguna 2400 motor block with enlarged volute likely allowing 4000lph on US electric. See Jonathan’s Comment Below.

  • You might want to change those stats. Those output numbers were from the first 2000 motor design and were a little on the low end for what this motor can really do. So I changed the specs for the 2000 motor (or rather insited that ATB follow my original specs in the first place for the 2000. Now its getting 3500lph on 50Hz, and will most likely overshoot 4000lph in the US with 60Hz.

There is also a 'giga' which will be over 4' tall, and run on the new 4200 motor I designed for them. This pump should be in the 6000lph range on that body... I have no doubt that the 4200 should hit 8000lph... but it depends on the head pressure of the skimmer and how the pump is designed to handle it.
